HISTORY OF THE BUBBLE
The chew to choose since 1979. The rest is history.
The Origin
1979
Hubba Bubba was introduced in the United States in 1979 by Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company.
The name comes from 'Hubba Hubba', a phrase military personnel used in World War II to express approval!

Almost called
"Hubba Hubba"
The brand got its’ name from the phrase, "Hubba Hubba”.
This saying came from members of the US military in World War II – which soldiers used to indicate that they approved of something.
Hubba Bubba was originally supposed to be sold under the name 'Stagecoach'! The name was replaced before marketing began, and the first TV commercial was set in a Wild West town.
Birth Place
Big bubbles, No troubles
HUBBA BUBBA was first launched in our classic 5-Piece Chunk format, with HUBBA BUBBA BUBBLE TAPE following in 1988.
HUBBA BUBBA BUBBLE TAPE was launched in a canister as a unique way to decide how big you wanted your bubble to be!
The original Hubba Bubba recipe was developed at the now-defunct Wrigley plant in Santa Cruz, California. This is where the magic of the less-sticky bubble gum formula was perfected!

Big Comeback
Flavor Blast from the Past
Some playful flavors of past HUBBA BUBBA gum are: Cotton Candy, Cola Party, Groovy Watermelon and Gushing Grape.
Wrigley pulled Hubba Bubba from U.S. shelves in the 1990s. After about a 15-year hiatus, nostalgia brought it back in 2004, and it's still popular in America today!
