Masters of the Menu
Competition Terms and Conditions:
Promoter: H.J. Heinz Foods UK Limited, The Shard, 32 London Bridge St, London SE1 9SG (the ‘Promoter’, or ‘Heinz’).
1) The Competition is open to any chef resident in the United Kingdom, aged 18 or over and working for an independent food operator (independently owned with four or fewer locations) currently operating in the United Kingdom, excluding employees of the Promoter, their agents or anyone professionally associated with this Competition.
2) Entry Period: Open to entries from 8:00am on 4 July 2025 to 2 October 2025 at 11:59pm (inclusive). The eligibility criteria shall apply from the 4 July 2025 until the Prizes are awarded.
3) To Enter: complete the Competition entry form on Heinz’s website. The entry form will require you to submit the following information:
Entrant Details:
a. Your full name
b. Personal email address
c. Name of the business where you work
d. Business address
e. Role within business
f. Type of operator (QSR, café, casual dining, etc.)
g. Number of sites
h. Operator channel (Restaurant, food truck, ghost kitchen, etc.)
Heinz Hero Dish Brief - A creative Heinz-inspired dish that incorporates one or more of the following Heinz core products: Heinz Professional Mayonnaise, Heinz Tomato Ketchup, Heinz Mayonnaise, Heinz Firecracker Sauce, Heinz Classic Burger Sauce, Heinz Smokey Baconnaise, Heinz Sticky Korean Barbecue Sauce, Heinz Salad Cream, Heinz Sweet Chilli Sauce, Heinz Classic Barbecue. You will be required to include the following information:
a. The recipe and preparation instructions
b. A standalone image of the dish
c. A description of the dish: Its taste and what you want it to achieve (100 words maximum)
d. Your inspiration for the dish (100 words maximum)
e. How the Heinz product(s) used works to elevate the dish (100 words maximum)
4) Entry parameters for your Heinz Hero Dish:
a. The dish should champion the Heinz product
b. It should be a main course dish
c. The dish should be seasonally appropriate for Winter
d. The dish should highlight current trends in food
e. The dish should demonstrate the correct use of cooking techniques
5) The Promoter reserves the right to reject entries which, in its reasonable opinion:
a. are in breach of these Terms and Conditions;
b. contain any content that is offensive, harmful, objectionable or which is otherwise unsuitable for publication including with respect to race, religion, origin or gender, or which could reflect negatively upon the name, reputation or goodwill of the Promoter or any brand partner;
c. contain or refer to any third-party brand or reference any third-party names, logos and/or intellectual property;
d. contain any content which has been created by an AI tool or which has been influenced by AI; or
e. promote any political agenda.
6) Masters of the Menu Prize winner selection:
(a) Stage One: All valid entries received during the Entry Period will be judged by a judging panel which includes at least one independent member. FIVE (5) provisional finalists will be selected based on the following criteria:
- flavour balance of the dish – Does the dish have a proper balance of seasonings and ingredients? If applicable, are all meats cooked appropriately?
- presentation of the dish – Is the dish visually appealing? Is the portion size appropriate?
- technique used to prepare the dish – Is there a good level of expertise and mastery of cooking fundamentals? Have the correct cooking methods been used?
- creativity of the dish – Is the dish inventive and unique? Does the dish utilise ingredients in an innovative way?
- accuracy to Heinz Hero Dish brief and adherence to the entry parameters set out in paragraphs 3 and 4.
(b) Stage Two: once the provisional finalists have been confirmed (see paragraph 13), the 5 finalists will receive a 1:1 mentorship session from James Cochran and will participate in a culinary competition (the ‘Cook Off’), where they will be required to prepare the Heinz-inspired dish which they submitted as part of their Competition entry. The date of the mentorship sessions is expected to take place on or around 20th October 2025 and the Cook Off is expected to take place on or around the 27th October (dates to be confirmed as part of the Cook Off finalists notification in accordance with paragraph 13).
James Cochran will award the Masters of the Menu Prizes using the same criteria as per Stage One.
7) Prizes:
(a) Prize Draw
By submitting the entry form, you will be placed in an automated prize draw. FIVE (5) entrants will be selected at random from all who submit a valid general entry form via a verifiably random computer process to receive a cash prize of £100 each.
(b) Masters of the Menu Prizes
a. The following Masters of the Menu prizes will be awarded in accordance with paragraph 6:
Masters of the Menu Champion (1st place) will receive £2,000 worth of Heinz products (retail value) for their business, an exclusive supper club hosted in partnership with James Cochran (to take place in November, with a date to be confirmed as part of the Cook Off finalists notification in accordance with paragraph 13), and £2,000 cash;
b. Second (2nd) place will receive £2,000 cash;
c. Three third (3rd) placed winners will each receive £1,000 cash
8) Maximum of 1 entry is permitted per person during the Entry Period. No person may win more than 1 x Masters of the Menu Prize and 1 x Cash Prize.
9) Prizes are personal to each winner (except for the £2,000 Heinz bundle, which is for the benefit of the business at which the Masters of the Menu champion works.) The Prizes cannot be returned, are non-assignable and non-transferable. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a Prize for an alternative of equal or greater value. The Promotor will contribute to the expenses incurred by the five finalists for attending the mentoring session and Cook-Off, up to a maximum of £150 per event, per person. In addition, the Promoter will contribute to the expenses incurred by the Masters of the Menu Champion for attending the supper club, again up to a maximum of £150. The Promoter shall not support with any expenses or other costs incurred by the finalists above £150 per event, per person.
10) To redeem the £2,000 worth of Heinz products, the business at which the Masters of the Menu Champion works will be required to purchase the Heinz products up-front and provide proof of purchase to Heinz. Heinz will reimburse the business promptly following receipt of reasonable proof. The Heinz products must be purchased via 4 or fewer invoices within a 12-month period following the Masters of the Menu Prize awards. Cash prizes will be delivered via bank transfer within 45 days of prize confirmation. Winners must have a valid UK bank account, and are responsible for providing correct bank account details. The Promoter will not be liable for any Prize payments made into the wrong bank account.
11) It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide correct, up-to-date details when filling out the entry form. The Promoter cannot be held responsible for entrants failing to supply accurate information which affects their Competition entry.
12) Cash Prize Draw winner notification: Prize Draw winners will be notified within 5 working days of the end of the Entry Period via email using the details provided on the entry form. They will be asked to provide their bank account details and may be asked to provide evidence of identity and eligibility. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the Cash Prize Draw winners. If the winner(s) does not respond to the original contact within 15 working days, Heinz reserves the right to offer the Cash Draw Prize to a new selected winner(s).
13) Cook Off Finalists notification: The provisional Cook Off finalists will be notified within 5 working days of the end of the Entry Period via email using the details provided on the entry form and may be asked to provide evidence of identity and eligibility. The finalists will also be asked to confirm their county of residence and their availability to attend the mentorship session, the Cook Off, and (if judged to be the Masters of the Menu champion) the supper club, at which point the finalists will be confirmed. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the provisional Cook Off finalists. If the provisional finalists cannot be contacted within 5 working days of the Promoter’s first attempt to contact them or cannot confirm availability to attend all three of the mentorship session, the Cook Off, and the supper club within 5 working days of the Promoter’s first attempt to contact them, the provisional finalist will be disqualified and a reserve/s will selected using the same process. Reserve finalists may have less time to respond.
14) Privacy: The Promoter and/or any agent appointed to assist in running the Competition will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the Competition and the auditing of the entries where necessary and for no other purpose unless we have your consent or unless you have opted-in to receive future marketing communications. If you are a finalist, we may supply your personal details to our third-party fulfilment provider in order that they can deliver the prize.
15) With the exception of winners/finalists details set out in clause 16, your personal details will, at all times, be kept confidential and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 as applicable. Your personal data as supplied during this Competition will be deleted not more than 3 months after the end of the Entry Period. You can request access to your personal data, have any inaccuracies rectified or request deletion of personal data by sending an email to contact@williammurray.co.uk with “rectify or deletion of personal data” in the email header.
16) Privacy – winners/finalists’ details: The names and region of the winners/finalists will be available by sending an email to contact@williammurray.co.uk with “Masters of the Menu 2025” in the subject header. Entrants can object to disclosure, or request that disclosure be limited in scope by advising the Promoter when accepting their prize. We may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so.
17) By participating in the competition entry and prize draw, you agree to the use of your personal data as described within these Terms and Conditions.
18) You agree to procure the grant/grant the Promoter in perpetuity a non-revocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use the copyright and other intellectual property rights vesting in your entry for all purposes connected with this Competition, including but not limited to display on the Promoter’s website, social channels, in any publicity, advertisement or case study carried out by or on behalf of the Promoter in any manner or medium whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet and any other website of the Promoter or its agents/contractors’ choosing and use of the entry, or part(s) of the entry in marketing materials relating to this Competition and/or future promotions.
19) The Promoter reserves the right to require entrants to provide further verification of eligibility. The Promoter reserves the right to reject those registrations which it considers, in its absolute discretion, are fraudulent or invalid.
20) No responsibility can be taken for entries which are late, lost, delayed, corrupted, damaged, misdirected or incomplete or which cannot be delivered for any technical, delivery or other reason. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt. The Promoter does not guarantee continuous or secure access to the entry site. Entries not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions will not be accepted.
21) The Promoter is not liable for third party products or services.
22) If it becomes apparent that an entrant is hiding their identity by using multiple email accounts, manipulating IP addresses, using identities other than their own or any automated means in order to increase that entrant’s entries, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel any Prize claimed by that entrant in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
23) If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned for reasons including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures (or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition), the Promoter reserves the right (subject to any written directions given under applicable law) to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or does not comply with these Terms and Conditions and to cancel, modify or suspend the Competition or invalidate any affected entries.
24) By entering the Competition, all five Cook Off finalists consent to their name, position and images, and final dish images, being used to promote the Competition through press office, social media, media advertising and Heinz's website.
25) If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these Terms and Conditions the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation. In exceptional circumstances including those described here, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition or these Terms and Conditions.
26) The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies are not liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this Competition or accepting or using the/a Prize(s), except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Nothing will exclude the Promotor’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
27) If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.
28) All decisions are at the Promoter’s absolute discretion and are final. No correspondence will be entered into by the Promoter.
29) By taking part in this Competition all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

31) If there is a discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and those in any promotional material, these Terms and Conditions will prevail.
32) These Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
